What’s going on in the house across the way What’s going down in the situation room, I tell you There’s a man, sitting at his desk Unqualified to lead this mess Who’s gonna steer the boat Who’s gonna save our lives Who’s gonna steal the day Make no compromise, in bed with all the spies Telling you all these lies, I can see evil in their eyes, I tell you What’s going on in the house across the way What’s going down in the situation room I tell you, I tell you, I tell you I tell you, I tell you There’s a guy in the far right field Publishing lies - Hitler in disguise What’s gonna make his day is when you have to pay Who’s gonna have your back When your lifeline up and snaps, you don’t know where you’re at Adrift in some lagoon, with some twittering buffoon, I tell you What’s going on? In the house across the way. What’s going down? In the situation room I tell you, I tell you, I tell you I tell you, I tell you

SFB (WTF) 05:03
Shit for brains, nothing remains Bringing pains, ain’t it strange Perspectives change, some other way Views in time, the pictures that are mine The sun, it rises and when it falls, a blanket of darkness covers it all Nobody believes in the past, when everything seems to go so fast Things they might depress, a meaningless process, that I protest Allowing me to express, my utter lack of discontent Looking past the deeper scars Warming hearts to heal your soul Seeing things for what they are Accepting life is what I know Shit for brains, nothing remains Bringing pains, ain’t it strange Perspectives change, some other way Views in time, the pictures that are mine The wind, when it blows, I hear it knocking on my window Silence in the night, creatures lurking out of the light Nothing to exchange, never was I even in the range I hear it in the distance, getting closer every minute Looking past the darkest days Allowing minds to show the way Seeing things for what they are Moving on is what I know Shit for brains, nothing remains Bringing pains, ain’t it strange Perspectives change, some other way Views in time, the pictures that are mine Shit for brains, what do you say Please explain, your evil ways People change, without shame Tell me how, you think this is okay Shit for brains, nothing remains Bringing pains, ain’t it strange Perspectives change, some other way Views in time, the pictures that are mine Shit for brains, what do you say Please explain, your evil ways People change, without shame Tell me how, you think this is okay

Do You? 02:50
Do you feel inadequate Is that what makes you act like a prick I don’t think it’s an accident That you are that way, everyday Do you want to start a fight Do you feel you’re always right Do you do everything out of spite Do you think it’s some kind of slight Do you feel like you’re the best Better than all the rest I’d rather take an acid test Than to be with you, another day Did you ever listen to me, or did you just see right through me I never wanted a contest, I was never really even impressed Do you feel like I’m a threat Is that why you are always on edge It doesn’t really even make sense Why you treat me this way, every time Do you feel inadequate Is that what makes you act like a prick I don’t think it’s an accident, that you are that way - everyday That you are that way - everyday, that you are that way - everyday That you are that way - everyday, that you are that way - everyday

Just Wait 02:36
Wait Cause if you want it you'll work for the day When everything's crashing down Run for your life, if you can I had a dream in the night, about the most peculiar thing Cuts like a knife, when I go to think about it What is happening, to this wacked out story What is happening to me Wait Cause if you want it you'll work for the day When everything's crashing down Run for your life, if you can Guilty as charged, unopposed, this judgement might mean my demise The ugly truth, wrapped inside a curtain of lies What is plaguing me, this faded plot line you'll see What is happening to me Just wait ‘Cause if you want it you'll work for the day When everything's crashing down Run for your life, if you can Just wait ‘Cause if you want it you'll work for the day When everything's crashing down Run for your life, if you can

In Your Head 03:24
There’s a hook, in your neck And it’s messing with your head I look down at my watch, it is overtime Bringing me peace of mind Falling out the window, today Seeing the ground below me, I wanna drift away There’s a chip in your head, and it’s corroding you Get off the streets and show your bloody teeth A store across the way, selling hatred Cut another line cause we’re only trying to do it right Floating in my subconsciousness, right now Seeing what’s all around me, fading into dust There’s a seed in your brain and it’s taking over Get out of here - or feel the wicked pain Out to shore I go, floating off the way Only pay to play, 10 more times Nobody ever sees all the efforts When passing judgements, please set it all free C’mon to my friends, don’t get sucked in Cause that’s just the game, and oh what a shame if you’re not okay

Escape 05:13
Life has a way, of making each day A challenge, a task, nothing ever seems to last There’s no prediction to what has happened here I cannot imagine what you’d say about this last year I’m gonna get on the next bus I don’t know where I’m going But when the world treats you rough You’ll know where I am Escape, you know that you wanna Be free, swim in the water Run, as fast as you can Away from all of this insanity Woah, woah, woah Alive, the thoughts in your heart, set them free A solution will arise through the fire and the ashes I could not explain to you, my thoughts when I was back there Something always told me there was more than what was shared I’m gonna get on the next bus I’m not sure where I’m going And the world treats you rough You know where I’ll be Escape, you know that you wanna Be free, swim in the water Run, as fast as you can Away from all of this insanity Escape, you know that you wanna Be free, swim in the water Run, as fast as you can Away from all of this insanity Woah, woah, woah I don’t know what to say, I don’t have answers for your questions You’ve gotta be kidding me, when you say that I’m wrong I’m gonna get on the next bus I don’t know where I’m going But when the world treats you rough You’ll know where I am Escape, you know that you wanna Be free, swim in the water Run, as fast as you can Away from all of this insanity Oh escape, you know that you wanna Be free, swim in the water Run, as fast as you can Away from all of this Oh escape, you know that you wanna Be free, swim in the water Run, as fast as you can Away from all of this insanity Escape, you know that you wanna Be free, swim in the water Run, as fast as you can Away from all of this insanity

Realize 01:56
Just let it go, what you’ve held in Give yourself the time to realize that you don’t have to quit Oh, the weight that you are holding, you don’t have to carry The voices in the distance, you don’t have to listen to The love that you are feeling, isn’t going anywhere Just let it go, what’s in the past You, yourself can realize the pain is never coming back The sadness on your face, I don’t have the heart to bear Only you can set it free, leave it in the past The love that you are feeling, doesn’t take vacations Just let it go, what’s on your mind Give yourself the love and courage to fight your worthy fight Just let it go

Give 04:15
Give me a break from this life Give me a notion or a reason why Try to forget yesterday Give me a break from my own brain Everything I touch, turns to dust What’s in my mind, isn’t always clear I look out the window, and ponder my existence and why I’m here Deep blues in the mystic, whispers so softly and sincere Does anyone know Does anybody know Give me a break from this life Give me a notion or a reason why Try to forget yesterday Give me a break from my own brain I tried to leave, it all behind But it caught up with me, all in time I wanted to fledge, my own path But I don’t have, the strength to last Does anyone know Does anybody know Give me a break from this life Give me a notion or a reason why Try to forget yesterday Give me a break from my own brain

Little creatures in the night, runnin' in my head Scurry through the bushes, looking to be fed How does he get back home Think about it, the ones you discarded They’re watching you, and all of your carnage No more time for them, while you build a family Left all alone, with no one to love How does he get back home Little creatures in the night, runnin' in my head Scurry through the bushes, looking to be fed How does he get back home Do you know where she went, when you walked away Like their only friend, stood them up on a date She could have been killed, but you didn’t care Just shows your compassion, fade into thin air How do they find a home Little creatures in the night, runnin' in my head Scurry through the bushes, looking to be fed How does he get back home There’s a rat in the bushes, a skunk on the street A dog running loose, in full blown heat Just open that door, find it deep down inside To look without judgement, and to be satisfied How will they find a home Little creatures in the night, runnin' in my head Scurry through the bushes, looking to be fed, oh Little creatures in the night, runnin' in my head Scurry through the bushes, looking to be fed How does he get back home

Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide Always up for speaking, what's on my mind I gotta get better, to handle this weather Coming up ahead Something nasty underneath my bed Why can't I get it out of my head Always around, when I needed a hand Never had a better friend, in the times when I needed them They always cared, when the dust fell down Helped me pickup the pieces When nobody else is around Before anything had hit the ground Nobody heard a sound The news was all over town Gotta pickup the pieces, gotta pickup the pieces You didn't always sound so bright Something’s changed deep down inside All rusty parts have been replaced Expect it all within the case Ya gotta find a better way, to see what I'm seeing The path that was chose for you, wasn't meant to be Live life on a new track, living on a better path See into the future And turn off your lying TV, does nobody see what I see People living in poverty, let go and it'll set you free Don't judge the minorities for somebody else's deeds Nobody will listen to me, my heart bleeds compassionately Gotta pickup the pieces Gotta pickup the pieces Gotta pickup the pieces Gotta pickup the pieces

about

Situation Room is the highly anticipated second album from Sooke singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Taylor Caspersen and it is finally ready to be heard. After one long year’s work in the studio, the album is complete with 10 original songs, plus a surprise bonus track. Both his debut “After All These Years” and now “Situation Room” were recorded and produced entirely by Caspersen himself at his home studio in Shirley, BC. Themes of politics, societal idiocy, Vancouver Island life, and interpersonal predicaments are spurred throughout the album, but a common sound connects them.

The title track, Situation Room, is a political commentary on United States President Disgusting Donald the Cheeto, and it was written on the night of the 2016 election. Staring out the window of the Caspersound Recording Studios at the Strait of Juan de Fuca across to Washington State, the lyrics just fell to the page in shock and horror. SFB (WTF) and Do You? are searing, sizzling, scorching tunes that are ready to rumble, rock and shake you to the core. In Your Head features some intense Shirley rain, recorded right outside the studio window on a very stormy night. The inspiring short love song Realize which was written for his wonderful partner Amanda. Followed by the gloomy Give was written while having a particularly glum week. Little Creatures is ready to blow the speakers right out of your car stereo, and Pickup the Pieces is right there to help you recover from the previous track. Bonus track... is a tune called Goodbye, My Friends, and it was written as an homage to the Kemp Lake Music Cafe, Caspersen’s performance home-base for many years, which suddenly closed in late November 2017.

Physical copies will be available in late August through taylorcaspersen.com and in person, until then find “Situation Room” on the Taylor Caspersen Official BandCamp, or on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Google Play, YouTube Music, Tidal, Deezer, Amazon, Pandora and many more.
